Privacy policy
I collect only what I need to repair your camera and get it back to you. I use it for that and nothing else, and I never sell it or share it for marketing.
Who I am
A one-person camera repair service based in California. Questions about this policy go to xa.35mm@gmail.com.
What I collect
- Contact details: your name and email address, and the shipping address you give me for returning the camera.
- Camera details: model, serial number, the problem you describe, and my inspection and repair notes.
- Photos of your camera, taken when it arrives and after the repair, to document its condition.
- Shipping and payment records: tracking numbers, quotes, invoices and payment confirmations. Payments are handled by a payment processor; I never see or store your card or bank details.
- Website visits: this site counts page views without cookies and without identifying you.
How I use it
Only to provide the repair service: to reply to your enquiry, send estimates, inspection reports, quotes and invoices, keep you updated, take payment, ship your camera back, honor the repair warranty, and keep the business records I'm required to keep for tax purposes.
I don't sell, rent or trade your information, I don't use it for advertising, and I won't add you to a mailing list.
Who else handles it
I don't share your information with outside parties. The only exceptions are the services needed to complete the repair: the shipping carrier receives your name and address to deliver the return package, the payment processor handles your payment, and the email and storage services I use for the business hold our correspondence and job records. I would only disclose information otherwise if the law required it.
Repair tracker
If I give you a job number and passcode, you can check progress at xa2.cam/status. The tracker shows only your first name, camera model, serial number, repair dates, a short note from me and the return tracking number. It's encrypted with your passcode, so no one can read it without it, and it isn't listed in search engines.
How long I keep it
I keep job records while your repair and its warranty period are active, and afterwards for as long as I need them for tax and accounting records. Photos and notes may be kept with the job record for reference if the camera comes back to me.
Your choices
You can ask me at any time what information I hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email xa.35mm@gmail.com and I'll take care of it, except for records I have to keep by law.
Security
Your information is kept in password-protected accounts that only I use. Nothing about your job is ever posted where others can read it; the repair tracker is encrypted and only opens with your passcode.
Changes
If I change this policy, I'll update it here and change the effective date at the top.
