How it works

How a repair works

Every camera follows the same path, so you always know where things stand and nothing gets worked on without your say-so.

  1. Get in touch

Email me your camera model and what it’s doing — or not doing. Photos or a short video of the fault help a lot, and the serial number on the side of the body is useful if you can find it. From that I’ll tell you what I think is likely going on and give you an estimate of what the repair should involve, so you know roughly what you’re looking at before anything ships.

  2. Ship it to me

Once we’ve agreed to go ahead, I’ll send you the mailing address. Pack it properly and ship it tracked and insured.

  3. Inspection & quote

When it arrives I work through the camera on the bench against a functional checklist. You get a written report of what I actually find, a firm quote that confirms or revises the initial estimate, and an estimated turnaround.

  4. You decide

Nothing gets repaired until you approve the quote in writing. If you’d rather not go ahead, that’s completely fine — the camera goes back to you.

  5. The repair

I carry out the approved work, then test what was repaired to confirm the fault is genuinely resolved — not just quiet for a moment. Everything I do gets documented.

  6. Back to you

Returned tracked and insured, with a summary of what was done and anything worth keeping an eye on for the future.

A diagnostic fee covers the inspection and report, and it’s credited toward the repair if you decide to proceed. Exact figures come with your quote — just ask and I’ll walk you through them.
